De SSD is een nieuw soort opslagmedium, dat kan dienen als aanvulling op of ter vervanging van de traditionele harde schijf of HDD. Een SSD heeft vele voordelen ten opzichte van de conventionele HDD.

Voordelen SSD

Een groot verschil met de traditionele harde schijf is dat een SSD geen bewegende delen bevat. Daardoor zijn ze veel sneller, stiller. Daarnaast is een SSD veel energiezuiniger dan een gewone harde schijf. Bij laptops betekent dit een langere accuduur.
